Audi have unveiled the very first S model in the Audi Q7 model line. The 4.0 TDI V8 engine has an output of 435hp and 900Nm of torque between 1,000 and 3,250 revolutions per minute, allow ing the SQ7 to set new benchmarks in its segment. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is achieved in 4.8 seconds with a governed top speed of 250km/h.
The newly developed 4.0 TDI engine features an electric powered compressor, a world first, which augments the work of the two turbochargers giving an extremely dynamic performance, with no perceptible turbo lag. The Audi SQ7 TDI is also efficient, consuming just 7.4l per 100km on the combined cycle and emitting just 194g/km of CO2.
The new Audi SQ7 provides a great balance between powerful and intensified stylistic elements.At 5.07m long it's as long as the base model. Unmistakable Audi, the look is enhanced with the sculpted Singleframe radiator grille, distinctively highlighted wheels and flared quattro-style blisters. All lines and surfaces are precisely designed and accentuates the width and solid stance of the car. Other distinguishing features are a new radiator grille with an S-specific design at the bumpers, side air inlets, mirror housings and door inlays in standard aluminium and an exhaust system that terminates in four rectangular tailpipes.
LED headlights are featured as standard with Matrix LED's available as an option. Dynamic rear turn signals cement Audi's role in lighting design and technology. The headlights, daytime running lights and turn signals form a double light guide arrow - a new and unique light signature within the Audi family. Matrix LED lights have the ability to turn certain diodes on and off which prevents dazzling oncoming drivers while perfectly lighting the road ahead. Intelligent cornering lights are also a feature of Matrix LEDs and, with optional MMI navigation plus, can trigger the cornering light to illuminate around the corner just before the driver begins to turn the wheel.
Audi offers the choice of either five or seven seats in this new vehicle. The second row comes standard with a three-section backrest with segments that can be folded separately allowing easy access to the third row while the optional third row folds up and down electronically. The interior is particularly spacious and this is emphasised with a diffuser vent wrap and application strips. The SQ7 boasts elegant design solutions including analogue instruments with gray faces and white needles, special welcome screens and S badges while customers have the choice between sport seats and sport seats plus.
The lighting package comes as standard in the interior with contactless switches controlling the light in the door ppockets and the reading lamp. he instrument panel and door trim contain so-called contour lighting – extremely slender LED light guides that follow the broad lines. Ambient lighting is also available which offers additional contour lighting on the centre console and lighted door sill trims.
The SQ7 contains a range of features the driver can enjoy. Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3 inch display is optional and allows the driver to choose the display mode via the multifunction steering wheel. Head-up display is also an option. Optional MMI navigation plus with MMI all-in-touch includes a large glass surface on the centre console which gives haptic feedback after each click. The MMI logic allows for intuitive system operation and also understands terms from everyday speech. Thanks to the integrated LTE module and the Wi-Fi hotspot included in the Audi connect package, passengers can surf at high speed with their mobile devices. The Audi connect package brings comprehensive online functions on board.
Audi smartphone interface is another highlight with the MMI monitor making it easy to control your smartphone with iOS or Android operating system. A choice of sound systems in the SQ7 TDI mean you can choose either the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System with a total of 23 speakers or the Bose Surround Sound System that generates surround sound with 19 speakers.
Driver assistance systems come in the form of predictive efficiency assistant, that provides additional information in the instrument cluster to help the driver save fuel, pre sense city that can provide warnings and brake in anticipation of an accident and adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist which relieves the driver in slow-moving traffic on well-paved roads by taking over the steering in many situations.
The Audi SQ7 will be available for ordering at the beginning of Spring 2016 and will be available in 12 colours. Thanks to a wide range of equipment, the SQ7 TDI can be configured to be both sporty and elegant.
