Audi unveils new S4 and e-tron concept at International Motor Show

Audi have unveiled the new Audi S4 and S4 Avant and a new Audi e-tron concept car at the world’s largest motor show, the International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

The new Audi S4 and S4 Avant

The sporty new S4 and S4 Avant models build on the A4 series and combine powerful engineering, quattro performance, excellence in design and ground-breaking technology. Equipped with a newly developed V6 engine with petrol direct injection and turbocharging, the 3.0 TFSI engine has an output of 354hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds. Although it provides better power and torque, the S4 consumes less than 7.4 litres of fuel per 100km, with 170g/km CO2.

Taking advantage of electromechanical steering and a newly developed five-link suspension, the S4 and S4 Avant offers high performance on all terrains with variable speed-dependent dynamic steering as an option. Outside it boasts a striking design with a separating edge on the tailgate for targeted aerodynamics and inside it features the latest in Audi technology, including Audi virtual cockpit and MMI navigation plus infotainment system.

Driver assistance technologies feature heavily in the S4 and S4 Avant. Predictive efficiency assistant helps the driver save fuel with gear change prompts, Audi active land assist helps the driver stay in control and the adaptive cruise control Stop&Go including traffic jam assist can take over acceleration, deceleration and steering up to 65km/h.

The Audi S4 and S4 Avant will be available from 2016.

Audi e-tron quattro concept

The e-tron quattro concept, a fully electric SUV, was also unveiled at the International Motor Show and is scheduled to come to market in early 2018. Audi see the e-tron quattro as a statement about the future of electric mobility: it is sport, efficient and suitable for day-to-day use.

Power comes from three electric motors, one of which drives the front axle with the other two acting on the rear axle. This power helps the Audi e-tron quattro accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds on its way to the electronically governed top speed of 210km/h.

The lithium ion battery is integrated into the floor of the passenger compartment to give the vehicle a balanced axle load distribution and low centre of gravity. The battery’s 95kWh capacity gives the e-tron quattro a range of over 500km and the car is equipped with Audi piloted driving technology including radar sensors, a video camera, ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner. This technology is nearly ready for use in production vehicles.

The all-new Audi A4 Saloon

A major advancement in design, technology and engineering, the Audi A4 Saloon is now 120kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to lightweight construction and an intelligent material mix. At launch the A4 will offer a choice of seven engines: three TFSI and four TDI. Power output has been increased and now ranges from 150hp to 272hp while fuel consumption has been reduced by up to 21%. For example, the A4 2.0 TDI ultra has fuel consumption of just 3.7 litres of diesel per 100km and CO2 emissions of just 95g/km (the figures for the A4 Avant 2.0 TDi are 3.8l/100km and 99g/km CO2).

The all-new Audi A4 will be launched this November. For more information on any of these vehicles please contact Audi Centre, South Dublin.
