Audi has announced a new sales record in 2016 with 1,871,350 Audi models sold since January, which represents an increase of 3.8% compared to 2015. In all five of its largest individual markets Audi has recorded more cars sold than ever before during 2016 [Europe (+7.6%), in North America (+5.3%) with further growth in the plateaued U.S. market (+4%) and Asia-Pacific (+0.5%)]. Demand has increased worldwide for the seventh year running since 2009 with Audi almost doubling its market success over this time. Audi also recorded an increase in Sales in Ireland with over 6,000 registrations.

We are optimistic about the year ahead, particularly with the introduction of new models such as the Audi A5 Sportback, Q2 and Q5 to the Irish market; these models clearly demonstrate our commitment to our brand claim ‘Vorsprung Durch Technik’. In addition to our investment in the product range, our dealer partners are investing in the dealer network, which will see the opening of three brand new Audi dealerships across the country later on in the year.”
Demand in Europe rose sharply where the Audi Q2 and Audi Q5, two important models, were only recently launched. The continuous high level of demand for the Audi A4 also had a positive effect on the delivery results. Despite political and economic uncertainties in Europe, Audi A4 sales increased by 7.6% in comparison with 2015 with 337,550 units sold. The high-performance range from Audi Sport performed well in Europe, most notably the Audi R8. Deliveries of the Audi R8 increased y 31.8% to around 2,890 units in 2016. Across the entire portfolio, the overall number of customers that received keys for their new Audi increased by 7.6% in 2016 to around 860,600.
4% growth was recorded by Audi in North America during 2016 with overall deliveries totalling 210,213 units. The Audi Q7 plays an important part in this respect, with the US constituting its most important sales market worldwide with one in four Q7 customers coming from the Unites States. Since the new generation was introduced in January, deliveries of the Q7 increased by a double-digit figure every month. The Q7 has grown by around 60.9% to 30,563 units in the market in 2016. Worldwide, around 102,200 customers decided to purchase the model this year, an increase of 43.6%.
In China, overall sales for 2016 increased by 3.6% to 591,554 deliveries, maintaining Audi's clear lead in the Chinese premium car market. The demand for the Audi Q3 increased by 27.6% year on year while the delivery statistics for the A3 show an increase of 29.7% to 89,213 units.
