The Audi A3 range has been redesigned inside and out providing a sharper look and a host of innovative Audi technology. Each model within the A3 range, including the Sportback, Saloon and Cabriolet, are distinct in their own right but all feature a dynamic design along with technology like a new driver assistance system and Audi Smartphone interface which now features as standard on SE and S Line trim levels.
The redesigned angular grille on the front is flanked by striking Xenon headlights and the popular SE Trim line has now enhanced by 17” alloy wheels. S Line models are equipped with LED headlights as standard and offer a sportier chassis for increased driving dynamics. The width of the new A3 is reinforced at the rear with the horizontal illuminated graphics of the rear lights and the separation edge above the redesigned diffuser. There are now 12 paint colours to choose from, including the five new colours Ara blue, Cosmic blue, Nano grey, Tango red and Vegas yellow. The S line model also gives the exclusive option of Daytona grey pearl effect paintwork.
The A3 range comes with a choice of three diesel or three petrol engines and power ranges from 116 PS with the 1.6 TDI engine all the way up to 190 PS with the 2.0 TFSI. For the first time, a three-cylinder engine is offered in the A3 series in the form of the 1.0 TFSI with 115 PS.
The Audi virtual cockpit is a definite highlight of the new Audi A3's interior and is available for the first time in the compact class. It displays the most important driving-relevant information in high resolution on a 12.3-inch diagonal TFT screen. Smartphone-influenced operation has been introduced to the menu structure in the MMI system with infotainment featuring in the form of MMI radio plus with an electrically extended 7-inch diagonal monitor as standard. The optional MMI navigation and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch in conjunction with the Audi connect module bring a range of online features into the car. These include navigation with Google Earth and Google Street View traffic information in real time, as well as practical information on parking, destinations, news or the weather. The free Audi MMI connect apps enables other services like online media streaming and transfer of the driver's smartphone calendar to the MMI while cell phones with iOS and Andriod are connected with the car via the Audi smartphone interface.
The Audi A3 raises the bar once again in the premium compact segment with its wide range of driver assistance systems. Systems like the further developed Audi active lane assist and Audi pre sense front, including predictive pedestrian protection, make town and country driving even safer. New to the segment is traffic jam assist which works together with Audi adaptive cruise control (ACC) and its Stop&Go feature to keep the car at a safe distance from the one in front. In combination with the S tronic it can automatically set the vehicle in motion again after a short stop.
